March 25 (Sat)   Arrive Cairo. Meet our local representative; transfer to your hotel. Egypt's 62 million people live primarily in the Nile Valley, leaving the rest of the land sparsely populated. Cairo, largest city in Egypt, has an estimated population of over 15 million people, and is growing rapidly. Accommodation: Cairo Zoser Hotel
March 26 (Sun)   Full Day Tour of Egyptian Museum & Pyramids. Today visit the fabulous Egyptian Museum. Regarded as one of the most prominent in the world, it offers visitors remarkable insights into Egypt's ancient history dating back 5000 years. The antiquities include King Tutankhamon's Treasures - a spectacle beyond your dreams! Larger than life and more magnificent than you have ever imagined...visit Cheop's pyramid - one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the Sphinx, the great god-lion sentinel. Take a guided camel ride between the pyramids if you like. Climb to the entrance of Cheops' or into Kephren's burial chamber. Accommodation: Cairo Zoser Hotel (B,L)
March 27 (Mon)   Cairo to Alexandria by Private Motor Coach. Today we visit Alexandria's National Museum; the Greco-Roman Museum and the Qait Bay Citadel. We enjoy a leisurely lunch by the sea, then proceed to the Jewelry Museum of the Royal Family, viewing an incredible collection of semi-precious stones belonging to numerous Egyptian rulers. Our last stop is at the new Alexandria Library before driving to our hotel in El Alamein. Accommodation: Movenpick El Alamein (B,L,D)
March 28 (Tue)   El Alamein Battlegrounds & Cemeteries. Was this very site the beginning of the end of WWII? This will be the topic of the day as we find out about the fiercest and most decisive battle of WWII. Here, Montgomery the comander of the British Army in Africa defeated the German-Italian forces under the German general Erwin Rommel. Visits include the battlegrounds and cemeteries. March 29 (Wed)   Eclipse Day!!! Pre-dawn departure for eclipse site at As Sallum. Duration totality is 3m55s on Egypt/Libya border (approx. location: lat. 31°34'N, long. 25° 09'E). Eclipse runs from 09:20 UT (11:20 a.m. local time) to 12:00 UT (2:00 p.m. local time). At totality Sun high overhead at 62° altitude (from 10:38 – 10:42 UT or 12:38 –12:42 p.m. local time). March 30   (Thu)   El Alamein to Cairo by Air-Conditioned Motor Coach. Today, we take a leisurely drive back to Cairo to catch our breath before our big adventure yet to come. Accommodation: Cairo Zoser Hotel (B)
March 31 (Fri)   Fly Cairo to Luxor. Morning tour through Old Cairo which visits the ancient Ben Ezra Mosque, then the Moallaka Church (known as the Hanging Church) and the Abu Sergah Church dating back to the beginning of the 5th Century. This afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Luxor. On arrival you will be met by our local representative and transferred to the Luxor Sheraton. Accommodation: Sheraton Luxor Hotel (B)
April 1 (Sat)   Board Nile Cruise – Visit Luxor & Karnak. This morning, our group will transfer to our floating hotel for the next 5 days on a gracious Nile Cruise ship. After lunch, we have a guided tour of Luxor's East Bank including the unforgettable Temples of Luxor and Karnak. This larger-than life holy city of pylons, hypostyle halls, its colossal statues and obelisks, dedicated to the God Amon-Ra tower overhead as you wander in amazement through its gargantuan maze. Accommodation: Nile Ship MS Caprice (B,L,D)
April 2 (Sun)   West Bank "Thebes". Early morning visit to the West Bank, where you'll explore the astonishing and extensive New Kingdom city of "Thebes". Sightseeing includes the Valley of the Kings, where many Pharaohs were buried, the Valley of the Queens where you visit the splendid Deir El Bahari, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Then, return to ship in time to make way for Edfu. Accommodation: Nile Ship MS Caprice (B,L,D)
April 3 (Mon)   Luxor to Edfu. Visit Temple of Horus. Today, take a "caleche" carriage ride through the town to the Temple of Horus, the Falcon God. Be prepared to be astounded at the complete and well-preserved condition of this amazing in-tact temple! Return to the ship for lunch while sailing to Kom Ombo. April 4 (Tue)   Kom Ombo to Aswan. In the morning, visit Kom Ombo's Greco-Roman style Temple of Sobek, the Crocodile God. Standing serenely on a hilltop, the site offers an incredible view of the Nile. This afternoon, we arrive at Aswan to visit the High and Old Dams. Then, we visit the Unfinished Obelisk and tonight, aboard floating feluccas, see the Temple of Philae lit at night! Accommodation: Nile Ship MS Caprice (B,L,D)
April 5 (Wed)   Aswan to Abu Simbel. This morning, transfer from the cruise vessel to the airport for your excursion to Abu Simbel. Dedicated to the glory of Pharaoh Ramses II, Abu Simbel is a two-fold wonder. Its towering statues of 60 feet were cut into the hillside to daunt nubian invaders. But on flooding of Lake Nasser, the entire astronomically aligned temple was disassembled and moved to its present location - all in perfect alignment. The most photographed phenomenon in Egypt, the edifice of four gigantic statues of the great Pharaoh are only a taste of the splendor of this shrine to Ramses II. Tonight, we return to Cairo for our farewell dinner. Accommodation: Cairo Zoser Hotel (B,D)
April 6 (Thu)   Depart for Home. Some guests will be leaving early this morning, while others may opt for extensions in Egypt, Petra or Morocco. (Contact us for trip extensions.)
